Shift Editorial is a New York City based video production house, founded by Anthony Mathile and Jon Santos. We are dedicated to the development and production of stylized, highly crafted video portraiture, short and long form original programming and custom content for specialized platforms. We create editorial video as engaging and unique as the brands and people it portrays. We deliver high level cinematography with the compulsion to tell a good story.
Santos and Mathile met one summer in upstate New York at a friend's house. They ended up buying the house next door and have since produced quite a bit of collaborative work there. At some point it made sense for them to combine their backgrounds in film direction and art direction and work on a few more projects together. Shift was born.
Anthony Mathile's career began through a creative partnership with RollingStone.com producing original programming for the magazine's website. In 2002 Mathile went on the road with The Rolling Stones' Licks Tour to produce Virtual Ticket, an online video platform for their fanclub. Mathile continued producing original programming for artists including David Bowie, Sting, Avril Lavigne, and Destiny's Child. More recently he created the feature length documentary "Come Rain Or Shine" on the band Genesis which was in theaters across the UK and Europe and released to DVD by EMI in May 2008.
Jon Santos is an art director and adjunct professor at Pratt Institute School of Art and Design, based in New York City. Santos received his BFA from California College of the Arts (2000), is an AIGA medallion award recipient and was named one of I.D. magazines top 40 designers. Santos has given speaking engagements and exhibited his work in New York, Washington DC, San Francisco, Tokyo and Belgium.
